I love books

I don't think you can ever have too many books, with so many inspiring new titles with great projects and ideas it's hard not to get them all. Three that I have ear marked for a possible purchase in the near future are:
1. Dozens of ways to repurpose a tea towel - this may be good for the students at school ?
2. Small stash sewing - Projects using fat quarters
3. Pieces of me - just love the bright modern fabrics and project ideas.

Possibly heading up to the Canberra stitches and craft show next weekend so depending on how the budget goes there... I may have to order these goodies !

Urban Home goods swap

I am particpating in an amazing swap.... I have been drooling at the goodies people had made in the first round and jumped on board when the opportunity came up again. It is blind swap in which you don't know who your partner is and you request 5 possible items. I suggested to my partner that a sewing machine cover, placemats, apron would be very much appreciated... but there are so many beautiful things that I would use and love anything !!!! Check out the gorgeous items being made some from very talented people here.

I put together a range of items that have inspired me..... notice all the items made with 'darla' fabric !

An apron for addison

What do you do when you realise your 2 year old niece is turning 3 on friday and that you have not bought her a present ? You grab your scrap box and sewing machine and make something of course ! Love this fabric..... I think it's by Leicen from the Grandmother's sugar flower range. The toddler apron actually looks better modelled but I had no one to model it.

My baby is not a baby.

As my child is getting older it is hard to not think of her as at baby anymore. At 16 months, we are toilet training ( only doing a wee on the toilet before our bath at night) and soon I will have to start thinking about getting her out of a cot and into a bed. Her 'Jemima Puddle duck' themed nursery no longer seems appropriate and I have been looking for something else to decorate her room in : - I am thinking reds, soft pinks, maybe soft greens ??? I also eventually want to make her a quilt that is mainly white and features some darla fabric... but I have yet to decide on a pattern. However I am LOVING these :

They are removeable and can be found here.

I am in love !

I just can't get enough of Tanya Whelan's 'Darla' range of fabric from free spirit.... espically when I see pictures like this .... What is your all time favourite fabric range ?

Heavenly Hexies

I have never made hexies before until I got involved in a hexie swap and now I am addicted !! They are so quick and easy to make... check out the swap here. I made 25 hexagons and a small zippered pouch to send them in. It is secret swap and my partner requested anything red, blue, purple, pink with spots and stripes. I hope I have got the combination right !

Sew a summer dress

While Miss I was in daycare yesterday I whipped up this cute summer dress designed by Corrie from retro mummy. While I didn't have a model to wear it, thought I would still show you anyway. I will get her to model it soon..... it is going to be so cute , she could even wear it in winter with some tights and a skivy underneath.

Pattern and instructions can be found here at the notebook craft room. It was super quick and easy to make and can be made in sizes 1 - 6.

Trying out blogger

O.k.... here goes. I am trying out blogger after getting completely frustrated with wordpress. My previous blog (http://fiatcat.wordpress.com/) just did not allow me to do anything ! I hope this is easier.

Even though I made the bec's july block ages ago for the quilting bee... I have yet to post a photo of her block. Hope she likes them !
