Wonky Star table runner

I have been able get some sewing done with Kiah in my ergo baby pouch while I sew - not desirable but at least I get to have my 'sewing fix' !! I have been making these wonky star blocks using the bright and colourful henna garden prints and they are going to be made into a table runner for my secret swap partner in the 'Make Mine Modern' swap. I love there bright and cheery colours :

Having them all laid out - I think they need a border to make them 'pop' out. I was thinking maybe a solid - picking up on one of the colours ?

Any suggestions ?????

Bee blocks for Pam

Again not much much 'me time' this week - Kiah just loves being held and will fall asleep within minutes in the pouch but will cry for at least an hour if she has to self settle in her bassinette. Plus while entertaining a 2 year old the pouch is much easier for me to get out and about and do things but little madam is stacking on the weight and my back is really starting to feel it. Anyway..... I am sure Kiah will get better and I may need to become a bit tougher with her about self settling. I did manage to get these blocks done for Pam in the last of the 'Bee seam piecing downunder' bee. The quilt is going to be for her mum and she asked for fussy cut centres with a 'plane' theme. Hope she likes them !

SUTK Swap - Part 2

As part of my package for the 'Spicing up the kitchen swap' the lovely Leila from 'Where orchids grow' made a bib for Kiah. I have been trying all week to get a decent photo of madam wearing it. Unfortunately this is the best I can do :

You get the idea !! Madam will be 2 months tomorrow and has really started to develop a little personality which includes only sleeping when being held or breastfed. Hence the lack of sewing and 'me time' !

SUKS - Recieved

I received the best surprise in the mail today - It really made my day after getting up to Miss 7 weeks old 2 twice last night ( yes still a reasonably good baby compared to some ) but my eyes were hanging out of my head and I needed a bit of a cheer me up ! My partner was Leila from Where the orchids grow and look what I scored :

A gorgeous linen apron adored with cute crochet flowers ( image courtesy of Leila as it is too dark now to get a decent picture of my cute apron )

and................

oven mitts made out a range of gorgeous fabrics !!! Plus Miss Kiah got a lovely bib - I will upload a decent photo tomorrow. Thanks so much Leila, you really hit the mark with these ! They are almost to nice to wear and use in the kitchen and they really made my day !

MMM - Inspiration

I am taking part in the ' Make mine modern' summer swap again - it is such a great swap I love it. Here is what I have put together as my 'inspiration' for my secret partner.

I am hoping it 'speaks' to my secret partner but to some it up - I would love a set of pillows for my sewing room. I love moda bliss and moda ruby in terms of a fabric range and - anything with 'hearts'

Dresdens in bliss

I have been busy trying to finish Isabella's 'winter' quilt before the season is over. It is made using 'Bliss' by Bonnie and Camille and I have used a Dresden plate block and it is going to be back in some super warm and cosy flannel - also in bliss...

As I lay the squares out think I am going to add a border using a jelly roll cut into 2 inch squares to break it up a little ???

Once this is done - then it's onto a matching quilt for Kiah in ' Ruby' designed by the same people !!!
The plan is for the girls to eventually share a room and have matching quilts with a slight difference.... unrealistic maybe ?? But very cute !
